Accomplishments:

  • Met with Subject Matter Experts Sharon Cook, Sharon Casto, and Jerry Vance of MSHA and reviewed content and structure of current Workforce Connections (WC) NIOSH-based scenarios for accuracy

  • Assigned 30 CFR regulations to the best practices sections of current NIOSH scenarios (continuous miner fire, ventilation cutthroughs, and belt fire)

  • Assigned regulations from 30 CFR to On-Shift, Arrive on Section, End-Shift, and Training Responsibilities Job Task Analyses

  • Reconsidered design strategy with scenarios categorized based on the duties of a section foreman (primarily pre-shift, on-shift, and emergency and unusual situations)

  • Reviewed Beta Test results from experienced miners and industry workers


Open Items:

  • Feedback from Sharon Casto on Fireboss Scenarios contributed by Mark Adkins from the WVU Mining Extension Office

  • Continuous Miner Fire, Ventilation Cutthroughs, and Belt Fire scenarios need updates based on the feedback from Cook, Casto, and Vance

  • Cook, Vance, and Casto will develop Duty-based process scenarios for pre-shift and on-shift and will send these to team for integration in Workforce Connections

  • Workforce Connections performance issues to be sent to Courtney Cox

  • Reconfigure Fatalgram index and linking to MSHA website from NIOSH scenarios

  • Discuss what to put under the "Resources" tab


Next Week's Goals:

  • Update all 6 JTAs and all 6 JTA views to reflect the revised and newly aligned 30 CFR codes

  • Revise the 3 existing NIOSH scenarios that we decided to keep based on SME feedback

  • Begin developing the 3 new and SME approved NIOSH scenarios: "I can't get enough air", "Escape from a mine fire", and "Unsupported roof fall rescue"

  • Research "Review and Refresh" section for Workforce Connections

  • Update site architecture deliverables in Visio

  • Update Workforce Connections interface based on new design strategy

  • Finalize performance analysis with new design considerations

  • Our team meets each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 9am to 3:30pm

  • Internal team meetings are Wednesday and Thursday, 9:15am to 10pm
